Run of show
How to run the show
- Drive every slide from the main laptop. Advance with the right arrow on the keyboard or the wireless clicker. Pause on a slide for as long as you need: introduce a team, take a question, or wait for the room to settle. Nothing auto-advances.
- When a step is marked SWAP, hand the projector to the team's own laptop. The team plugs in (or switches the wireless source) and opens their own slide deck. Keep the main laptop ready in the background. You will need it again as soon as the team is finished.
- After the team's pitch finishes, switch the projector back to the main laptop and open the recap slide for that track. The recap shows every project in the track on a single screen so the audience and the jury can compare them at a glance before the vote.
- When the four track winners are on screen, open the audience vote. No rubrics, no scoring sheets: every person in the room picks one project on a paper ballot. The project with the most ticks wins the grand prize. Make this rule clear to the audience before you hand the ballots out.
- While the votes are being counted, fill in the winners' names on the slides. To avoid interrupting the live projection, use a separate laptop to open this runbook at ironhack-hackaton.de/runbook.html and make the updates from there. Click each track-winner step (29, 30, 31, 32) to jump straight to the right slide. On every winner slide, click the placeholder team name and project name and type the real ones, then press the green Save button on that slide so the change is written to disk. When all four are saved, press Save changes in the bottom-right of this runbook to save everything locally, then switch computers to reveal the winners.
The grand prize reveal slide works the same way: open it, type the winning team name, press Save, then switch computers to reveal the grand-prize winner.
Editing this page. Click any heading, time, step description, or callout to edit it. Press Save changes in the bottom-right corner when you are done. Save only works while the runbook is open through the local server (npm run serve); it writes the edits to the HTML file on disk and pushes them to GitHub, which redeploys the public site automatically.
